



About the job :
As a Senior Surfacing Artist – Character, you will be responsible for the creation of high-quality character textures and materials that support stylized or semi-realistic designs. Your work will be integrated into Unreal Engine and will serve as a key component of the film’s visual identity.
You’ll collaborate closely with the Character Modeling, Lookdev, and Hair & Groom teams to ensure consistency and believability across characters, from hero to background roles.
Key Responsabilities :

Create detailed character surfacing using Substance Painter and Unreal Engine

Ensure texture quality supports animation, lighting, and shading goals in a real-time context

Work with Lookdev and Art Direction to define style and material behavior early in the pipeline

Collaborate with Character Modeling and Hair & Groom departments to ensure visual and technical cohesion

Participate in the building and refinement of a reusable character material workflow for production
Must have :
-
Strong experience in surfacing for stylized or semi-realistic animated characters

Excellent knowledge of Substance Painter and Unreal Engine material systems

Deep understanding of form, color, and surface detail

Strong sense of consistency and character design storytelling

Proficiency in UV layout and texture organization for real-time rendering

Bonus: Familiarity with shader creation and simple material customization in Unreal Engine

Bonus: This is a bilingual studio and project — good English communication skills are a plus
